How far from the Appalachian Trail stop on Metro-North is the actual trail? Does anybody know?

Thanks.

As L. Wolf states... You are there... You step off the train, you are on the trail.

Would it be considered Steel-blazing if you used the train? :D

Watch out in that area as well, lots of flooding, the local maintainers are trying to keep up, but when it rains, there are some parts of AT heading SOBO that you could swim.

Took the train from there once while doing a section. Got off at Grand Central station in NYC and Carly Simon was giving a free, live concert in the lobby. Trail magic!

It's right on the trail. It only runs on weekends and holidays though. Not even on Friday evenings. I've taken it a number of times in the recent past.

Yes, the AT is right there. If conditions are flood (not as of now) remember that the AT crosses an extensive wetland immediately before the railway. In that case, the stop at Pawling NY might be better and it has a more extensive schedule, as well as a drugstore and pizza place.

That platform is a nice (if spare) place. Presuming no rain was forecast, and no train was scheduled to stop, it'd be a dry spot to take a snooze. It's kind of close to a road, but not right on it.

If the weekend-only schedule isn't convenient for you, hitch to/from Pawling along Rt. 22. Train service to Pawling is 7 days a week. Or hitch to Wingdale to the north - the station is 100 yds from Rt. 22 - very easy to get to.
