My husband just recently started backpacking. Now, he is a big guy (little girthy) and needs a pack that will fit him well.

We started with the Kelty Coyote and found that the hip belt did not quite fit his middle properly. We went to REI to get fitted, but found that the help was limited as was the knowledge.

So, what are some good packs to try for him? We would like to stay below $200 as this is new and we are only doing 2-3 day trips.

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Mouse Poo, did you try Mountain Crossing? Great knowledgable staff.

Wish you luck because I do know how that feels...

Just a short (and scenic) drive from you... Mountain Crossings, just south of Blairsville, GA. I just got back from there after being referred to them by everyone here. Their service is incredible! http://www.mountaincrossings.com/ You may want to call ahead to ensure that they have a selection which to fit your hubby.

Given where you live, I would also recommend Mountain Crossings - the most knowledgeable staff I have ever encountered anywhere.
