hey can anyone tell me , what is the nearest shelter to DWG and closest to harpers ferry..south bound..thx
The nearest shelter heading north from DWG is Brink Road Shelter which is about 25 miles, heading south it would be Kirkridge Shelter about 6 miles from DWG.
Forgot the Harpers Ferry shelter-that would be Ed Garvey which is 2 miles north of HF.

In addition, you might consider over-nighting at the AMC's Mohican Center, 10.5 miles North of DWG.
I believe at least some of the facility is open year-round. See www.mohicanoutdoorcenter.com for details/contact information.
As for Harpers Ferry, David Lesser shelter is 9.4 miles South of Harpers; Ed Garvey shelter is 6.4 miles North of the town.
