It's interesting.

The test needs a choice for 'Not necessarily'.

I'm sitting under (and slightly to the right) of Angela Merkel in my own little quadrant. Suprise, suprise, seems I'm a moderate right libertarian. There's 15 mins of my life I'll never get back. I still prefer "right wing humanitarian with libertarian tendencies." :D speedy

Right there with Alligator, just down and to the right of the Dalai Lama. A left-wing anarchist, who would have thought? We ought to start our own religion :-?

BTW, off course the questions were biased, that's the whole point.

This is my third(?) time to take the quiz. As I get older, I'm getting more and more libertarian- I used to be above the line, (still in high-school) on the line (after graduating) and now slightly below the line (one year of university)

I'm a left winger all the way though. :)

Some funny questions though. I don't see anything controversial about agreeing that the one party state has the advantage of efficiency. That doesn't mean that I want that situation, just that I recognize its advantages. I also recognize its disadvantages.

Yeah! I felt as if it I wanted to say, "Who's asking, and why?"

But then, some of us are in that one-hand-other-hand limbo that starts with, "Well, yes, but let me explain...." :D

I re-took the test four times choosing homogenous answers for each test.

In other words, I chose all 'Strongly disagree' the first test, all 'Disagree' the second test, and so on, etc.; You get the idea.

Results:

-Strongly disagree=four clicks down from center
-Disagree=two clicks down from center
-Agree=two clicks up from center
-Strongly agree=four clicks up from center

Why did I go to all this trouble?

'Cause I'm Libertarian and I felt like it.:D

Maybe I'll try to answer the questions in the most polar opposite to my feelings that I can imagine to see what happens. Lets face it, I've got too much time on my hands.:D;)

Great idea.

Another interesting twist would be to have two people ostensibly from opposite sides of the political spectrum agree to do just that and compare the results. :)

i'm not sure about the whole construct of the model. I'm not convinced that "neo-liberalism" would be widely accepted by economists as the extreme opposite of communism...... The model assumes this.....

that being said, i don't argue with the results given the assumptions built into the model. on economics, i'm pretty conservative, have always considered Milton Friedmon to be the most influential economist of the 20th century, and have a strong bias supporting free markets. (I frequently quote one of my graduate economic profs: "...gov't does not create economic value from a macroeconomics perspective, but destroys economic value..." I'm also amused by the naivete associated with the basic Marxist philosophy of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need"). socially, i'm also pretty conservative, BUT believe we should be very careful about giving the gov't the authority to limit individual freedom.....i think my scores reflect these beliefs.....

sigh - i always stay away from political discussions here! i don't come here to debate, because i just don't have time for it....let the flaming begin.....

Dear Lord - I was always taught that two objects cannot simultaneously occupy the same position. So there should be no room for me and Ghandi at the same spot at the same time.

The survey must be a little skewed. I am Canadian, but certainly no Ghandi!

Fun though.

Cheers,

PKH
