First off i'm fairly new here first thread so let me pick your brains.....

In an attempt to find a compromise between myself (i want to go lighter, and I am perfectly happy sleeping under a simple tarp streched into a lean-to) and my girlfriend (who wants a tent wall between her and those evil man eating racoons.... with the big sharp foot long fangs) we have narrowed our search down to this (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47992242&parent_category_rn=40003488) my questions are: has anyone used one? any gripes or complaints? Any other sudjestions on other shelters? ect

thanks for any advices you give me.

I would think that a pole between you and your girlfriend would be kind of a pain.

Second the motion on the tarptent.com. The OR silshelter thing is fine, but there won't be any ventilation in that thing when it's raining. Plus, the floorless design will let creepy-crawlies in, which probably won't make your SO happy. Tarptents come with a floor, bug netting, and plenty of ventilation. The 2-person versions weigh around 2 pounds, same as the OR tent. Yes, they are more expensive, but you could look for one on sale here on WB.
