I know it's colder than a well digger's rump here in East Tennessee. We had to get the fireplaces stoked tonight.. I think we're gonna be in for one cold/harsh winter this go-round... 'Bout time too.. We've had pretty mild ones for the last 3 years.

hello southern hemisphere summer! Looks like we're going to get a scorcher- I guess we are taking all the sun that would make your winters milder.

Have fun cold weather gear testing!

I am with you on this one. Fall is my favorite season. I prefer to deal with the cold, than sweat in the heat.

We had a frost warning up here too. I turned off the AC yesterday, last night my house got into the low 60's. Got to love it.

When you've been having 90+ degree days, the humidity factor makes it feel like it's over 100. Remove the humidity and minus 40-50 degrees, heck yeah it feels cold.

Summer is history in Wyoming !! Been in the low 30's every night for the past few weeks and high 40's low 50's during the day. Actually for us though this is a fantastic season. Aspens are turning golden yellow and the air is crisp and clean.

Heck, I grew up in South Florida/ Georgia and Alabama. I freak out my co-workers from the north when I walk outside into 95 degree heat /humidity and remark on how much I like it. It reminds me of home. sniff sniff.:sun

It is easy to tell the snowbirds from up north on the beaches here in Florida in the winter. They are all out in the sun and are mostly beet red. We are mostly tanned and have learned to look for shade:D

The first time I saw people in Florida wearing jackets, gloves and hats with the earmuffs down while I was taking an early morning walk in shorts and T-shirt, I was flabbergasted. When it gets hot in the afternoon (high 80's) I'm looking for air conditioning, the natives are walking around outside, happy the chill has burned off. It all depends on what you are used to.

It was 39 at my house this morning. I live at about 2000', so it might have dipped below freezing up on the ridges where the AT runs.

I love it. I'm a Yankee living in the South, and although the altitude helps cut the heat and humidity down a bit, I've still been too hot for about the last four months.

Well, not in the South. The National Weather folks say that El Nino (is that right?) will cause milder than normal temps in the South this year, colder everywhere else.

Sitting here looking out the window in northeastern Ohio, it's spitting snow, the sun is currently shining, and it's a little over 40F according to the thermometer. I think the weather must be having technical difficulties.

Got snowed on two days ago when I was out on a short hike, too.
