I discovered this year, that there is in fact space to pitch one (small) tent at the top of White Rocks Cliff on the AT/LT section in Vermont. When you take the blue-blaze down to the cliffs, get to the cliffs and then work your way north. There's an awesome spot right at the top of the sheer cliff with spectacular views towards the Addarondacks. Enjoy!

I was just there yesterday and you are correct. Little Rock Pond is also spectacular. The sad thing is I read the journal in the shelter just north of there and most thrus walked right by White Rocks as it is a whole 0.1 off the trail. This happens almost every year.
