LMAO.... Too funny. Yep all of us are hippies, part a revolution to make the world a better place. Come to Damacus, Va for Trail Days sometime and watch our dance around the fire as we pray to the AT gods.

ah, the memories........or what's left of them........

I think I could still handle being a trustifarian though. Never had a trust fund but never too old to have one right......

Back to hippies - who are/were those white clad folks who hung/hang around that campground at Erwin? I don't think they hiked though....nevermind.

Anyone meet Space Cookie on trail in VA a couple of months ago. He might be a hippie, or again, he might not be. Hard to say. Got any brownies?

I don't think there was a moshpit at woodstock (was there?) We did have long hair though, but the front was short. See, when I was in high school we listened to Iron Maiden and the acid had little pictures of Conan the Barbarian on it. I ate some and had a vision where Ozzy bit the head off of a Phish named Country Joe.

I have my own ideas of what a hippie is...........

And the first thing that goes on my body after a shower is patchouli.

Hippies don't use it to cover up odors, they use it because they like the aroma.......it tricks the olfactory into thinking erotic......

all right....I'm through with this....I was forced into posting.......

Well I got a 15 on the Hillbilly thing.

Is the word "ain't" in your standard vocabulary? - Yes.
Would you consider barbecued groundhog to be a gourmet meal? - I imagine I would if I ever ate some.
Have you ever supplemented your income by recycling empty beer cans or digging for Ginseng? - Yep, but you forgot copper wire and coke bottles.
Did you ever crank up a country song so loud on your stereo that you couldn't hear the phone ring? - I didn't hear it ring, so I can only assume so.
Have you had your vehicle longer than you've had your spouse? - I did finally sell it last year.
Does your vehicle sport more than one bumper sticker? - Does duct tape count?
Do you prefer the company of your dog over the company of people? - A lot of the time I do.
Did you ever stop along an Interstate to see if a piece of roadkill was still salvageable? - No.
As a kid, did you ever get sent to cut your own switch for the whuppin' you had coming? - Yes.
Can you walk barefooted across a gravel road without flinching? - Not anymore, but I will get on it as soon as I get home.
Did you ever feel the urge to punch a guy, just because he was driving a brand new Mercedes? - Yes.
Does talking about politics make you mad? - Yes.
Do you know what "Mountain Oysters" are? - Yes.
Is going through five cases of beer your idea of a productive weekend? Well I drink whiskey.
Do you know who sings the song "A country-boy can survive"? I do. Do you?
Do you know what that clear, watery looking liquid in a mason-jar really is? - see #14.
Do you enjoy reminiscing about the "good ol' times"? - yes.
Did you not have to worry about any possible Y2K problems, because you usually keep all those "emergency items" on hand anyway? - Absolutly.
Is your idea of "gun control" being able to hit what you aim at? - See #14.
Would you vote for Hank Williams Jr. for President? No, but I would have him as secretary of defense.
But as to the hippies, I just watched that Woodstock video again - wow. They left trash EVERYWHERE. If it hadn't been for the trees in the background I would have sworn that was Baghdad with that big field full of trash.

I was amazed at how many (ex?) hippies are associated with the trail. Old hippies don't die, they sell hiking equipment, work at outfitters, hang out on the trail, etc.

Needles

I am not a hippie, never have been, never will be. I moved away from a large city in the Pacific Northwest because there were too many hippies there. I try to avoid using the words "community" and "awareness" whenever possible. I have never smoked pot, I eat lots of red meat, I refuse to buy anything organic.
Last time I was on the trail my mohawk was blue and I powered my way up a mountain by listening to the Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls, Television, the Damned, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Gang of Four, Sham 69, Rancid, The Rakes, and the Libertines. I am tattooed and pierced in places you probably don't want to think about.
AT hikers are not all hippies.

So here (passes a new bag on) I went out and grabbed these.....Organic fiber wafer chips with sundried tomato....and here...(passes large jug of freshly made Chai Green Tea)...that'll wash it down.
Oh yeah....here's some strawberries from the garden...totally organic..
Umm, thanks so much for the Doritos.....It's not like me to eat stuff like that with all those pervertitives and chemicals...but man I had the munchies bad....they were really good...Thanks..
