The Cat's Meow is a good bag. It's a staple of the TNF line

Great bag. I used one in 01 and loved it.

I have a Sierrra Designs Wild Bill. It costs less, but I would pick the Cat's Meow over it if given a second chance. The Wild Bill doesn't have a chest baffle, which I feel is important at lower temps.

I have and love my Cat's Meow. Got in on clearance at an outdoor store in PA. I ditched the compression sack and I am able to cram it into a regular nylon stuff sack saving several ounces!

I have a 15-degree Cat's Meow that is nearly 14 years old. You would think that after that amount of time it would be worthless, but astonishingly this bag still keeps me warm to 25-30 degrees or so. Its unbelievable that it has not lost any more of the warmth factor than that.

Mine is 16 years old. The stuff sack bit the dust a while back, but despite the wear and tear the bag is still going strong. I even used it for a long time as my bed, when all I had was a rug, dresser, and kitchen table. I'll be using my good old Cat's Meow in the Smokies next week and expect that it will keep me warm like it always has. I got a left zipper to mate with my then hubbie's. I wonder after all this time if I'd ever be able to get used to the standard right zip.

I'm six feet and have a standard Cat's Meow bag. Works fine for me. I've had mine for about three years and it's still going strong.

The Cats Meow is a classic TNF bag; I used one on my thru and it served me well. However, after my thru I upgraded to a WM down bag. If you can afford the price difference -- and hike enough to make the extra money make sense -- then a good down bag is the way to go.

You probably don't need anyone else to agree that TNF's Cat's Meow is a good choice for an A.T. thru-hike, but I will add to the plethora of accolades anyway.

Many years ago, I worked for TNF briefly and sold a bunch of them. They're still selling plenty of them and there's a reason for that.

For those contemplating buying the Cats Meow sleeping bag, REI has them in their fall sale October 6-15 for $120.

I've got a 35 degree TNF Flight, but need a bag that serves me better in colder temps. The oversized Slumberjack 0 degree bag I own is just too heavy. So, I'm trying to decide between the Cat's Meow (20 d) & the TNF Snowshoe (0 d). Most of my backpacking is late fall, winter, early spring. I have no problem wearing layers to bed, boosting the comfort rating of my bag. I'm also a warm sleeper. I'm leaning towards the Cat's Meow, but just wondering "how low it will go" when wearing layers? The lowest temp I've camped in over the past decade is about 10 degrees.

I've owned a 20+F Cats Meow. It was a good bag; my only complaint: Not a lot of padding in the collar/neck tube. When I pulled the draw cords tight (for me at least), all I felt were the cords against my face ~ granted it has to be real cold for you to every really "zip up" ~ but then again I like camping in COLD weather.

All of that to say; try it out before you purchase. It may have been just my bag. A lot of people love the Cats Meow. Happy camping!

I bought a 20 deg. cat's meow about 10 years ago, used it every night for 8 years (I lived in a remote cabin ) at temps down to low teens with expedition base layer and fleece hat. Slept warm ,but after about 7 years , bag started to lose it's loft and warmth so went to REI and bought the new version (old had a fleece like lining , new is silky nylon ). There are better bags out there , but not any that I know of at this price point.

If you used any sleeping bag every night for 8 years, I'd say you got your money out of it!
