I have always had an interest in hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail.
Can anyone give me information on outfitters or guides who offer trips along the trail?
Please forgive me for being a new to the subject.

This will get you started on outfitters along the trail down south, follow the subsequent parts as you come north. Search this site for "outfitters," or if you're rich try PMing Warren Doyle. :D

Give me a shout when you head up this way, I'd be happy to join you for a few days.

This is probably the best place to start:

http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c.jkLXJ8MQKtH/b.1423119/k.BEA0/Home.htm

You've probably been there, however.

You'll find a trail maintaining club in each state through which the AT passes.

Google Appalachian trail and then the word club, followed by the name of the state you're interested in hiking in.

Thank you for your assistance. I just recently returned from a horse pack trip in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana and I am now looking for another outdoor trip. I have spent considerable time in the mountains along the southern portion of the Trail over the years. Each time I visit the mountains of North Georgia, I stop in at the store at Woody's Gap just up the road from Vogel State Park. Always envied the hikers there headed north on Trail.
Again Thanks.

You might consider attending the week long July 2007 ATC Conference in Ramapo NJ. One major feature of the ATC Conferences is group hikes along the AT and elsewhere in the area. Details should be posted at www.Ramapo2007.org.
