Toaday I finally got the chance to set up my HH ULBA with my new JrB Nest. I got it on fine and I love it. I only set up the hammock and did not put my tarp on. I got in and my back was warm it is 53 here today. I do have a question though. I attached the velcro on the nest to the hammock but the slit would never completly close. I reread the instruction that came with it and redid the velcro. the slit did close more but never completly sealed. I am including some pic from my attempt. What am I doing wrong?

If you tighten the foot end drawstring too much, the Nest velcro will separate from the HH velcro when you get in the hammock. Is that what you're talking about? Try loosening the drawstring.

It may not stay closed if nothing is in the hammock...try putting your pack in there to weigh it down if you want it to stay bugfree when you're not in it.

Jeff I tryed it with the drawstrings loose, tight and pretty much every combination in between. And like you said when i tightened it to much it did come loose from the HH velcro. When I had it where I could get it to almost close it stayed attached but while I was in the hammock I could see a very small sliver of light. I checked to make sure that the Nest was not bunching up in the slit and it wasn't. Now that I think of it could I have had the suspension system to tight? I also noticed when I wasn't in the hammock that as you said the slit wasn't closed but the hammock material kind of closed it off. Thanks for the input. Great advice as always.

If the suspension is too tight, it'll compress the down under your butt. If it's tight enough to keep the slit open, you'll probably feel very little insulation under there. Worth checking.

Please understand that when the Nest is attached to the HH velcro the Nest material should be outside of the slit....The slit will not overlap but will butt up its two edges, especially when it is weighted with the sleeper...It may show light in some places but it generally will preclude bugs....When and if, a full velcroed seal is desired, simply rig the nest with the center slit closed on itself...the Nest will then serve as a storm door over the HH slit...no light, no bugs...and a little warmer in the coldest of weather.

Thanks Pan you explained exactly what was happening. Being new to hammocking I though I should get a tight seal. But your explanation was dead on. And by the way I LOVE MY NEST. Thanks.
