Which stitch for down baffels? [Archive]

I have started a down quilt & will be sewing the baffles this weekend. Should I use a straight or zig-zag stitch? Thanks, Arkwater

I'd use a straight stitch. Zigzag stitches are to absorb stretch...will your quilt be stretched in any way?

It's actually going to be an underquilt, so it may be stretched a little sometimes. Shouldn't be much though.

I'd still go with a straight stitch for an underquilt. JRB does, too.
