simplify with cord locks. way too complicated with all those lacing options. Just hike.

I second the cord lock approach - never have your shoe laces untied by briars ever again - also good for using the shoes as slip-ons, cord locks keep the laces up so no stepping on the the laces and tripping

The laces I use are made from stripped 550 cord - last forever and thin enough to tuck the ends down into the arch of the foot to keep them out of the way

Another vote for stripped 550 cord and cord locks.

Where can you get replacement cord locks?

Yep gutted - and the tips melted - but I know I don't have to tell you how to do fieldcraft with 550 cord. And you can get cord locks at my outfitters and at a fabric store. I've also sometimes seen them at Wal-Mart.
