I am just curious what size packs most people carry for a thru-hike.
You know I'm not even sure.:o
I've cut on it here and there.:)
It holds 30lbs easy and can stuff 50+ if needed.
I'm using the Vapor Trail (3600 cu in) for my 2007 thru hike.

Used the GG Vapor Trail for my thru in 2003 - 3600 cu in. Was plenty big enough.

Is this poll measuring cubic inches? In that case, 3800

I bought a 4500 with the intention of using it on my thru hike. They (the outfitter) totally saw me coming. After doing a two week hike on the AT in Vermont this summer I realized that it is going to be way bigger than I need. Oh well........

My gearskin starts at nothing and expands from there. I once packed 30 pounds in it but seldom do so anymore. In cubic inches I find my older 2650 ci Mchale far to big to tote, unless I need lots of water. But its heavy at 3.2 pounds, though. I seem to stick with the gearskin, usually-unconventional as heck:) but works darned well!
