Coosa Backcountry Trail (http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/Coosa_Bald_0000.asp) is a very nice hike (http://hikingthecarolinas.com/coosa.php), about 13'ish miles.

A nice campsite is the AT's Slaughter Gap campsites. They're off the loop a bit, you'd leave Slaughter Gap and follow the Duncan Ridge to the AT, then south on the AT to the campsite area. You'd then have to backtrack that to return to Slaughter Gap and the downhill back to Vogel State Park. It would add a something over a mile each way to the loop.

i'll second the coosa backcountry trail. its a good weekend, 2-day leisurely hike. i had a review of the trail on WB from last year, but I cannot find it now.

counter clockwise loop is the easiest on the Coosa. Coosa Bald is a nice place to camp as well, if you are by yourself. not much more room than that up there, although a friend and i did manage to set up two tarps up there.

One nice thing about the Coosa Backcountry Trail is that it crosses a road that runs right back down to Vogel State Park. So ...if you run into any problems or need to bail for any reason there is an option.
