The report says the coyote has the symptoms of rabies and would likely die within 24 to 36 hours of the disease. Frightening reports for sure and good reason for people to be exceptionally watchful outdoors in that area (as the coyote may pass the rabies on to other animals)

The attack is much closer than the coyote road kill I posted a picture of two weeks ago. That attack happened about 10 miles from the AT. The section of the AT closest to the attack is NY/CT border to US 341 in Kent CT. The one good thing is that the attack happed on the Easter side of the Housatonic River and the AT is on the Western side of the river. However, the Housatonic River is not that difficult to cross in that area.

The coyote is now dead. He attacked someone else around 2:30 yesterday afternoon and the guy beat him to death with a peavy handle.

CT=Connecticut? I must have the Colorado Trail on my mind, I first thought it happened out west.
