The approach trail from Amicolola. If you want to skip the approach trail, go to Amicolola and get a map from the ranger station.

There are a few shuttles and taxi services that can get you to the road crossing .9 miles below the AT's southern terminus atop Springer Mountain.

Stay at the Hikers Hostel, run by Josh and Leigh Saint. They'll go and get you at the bus station, or wherever, then they'll give you a ride to either the approach trail, or the shorter trail right to Springer Mtn. -- your choice. I thought it was a great deal. Plus, you get a nice place to spend the night and rest up before you begin your epic journey.

My favorite way is:

From GA Hwy. 52 in Cartecay (12.1 miles west of Amicalola Falls State Park or 7.4 miles east of Ellijay), turn north on Roy Road between Methodist Church and Stanley's Grocery and go 9.7 miles to end of road. Turn right and go 2.2 miles to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (these are paved roads). Turn right onto gravel USFS Road #42 and go 6.8 miles to the parking area on north side of road.

It's easy to get to!
