Good Morning!

My name is JT and I just joined the forums. Growing up in the shadows of the White Mountains, I've always had a calling to the A.T.. I now live in Georgia close to Springer Mountain and I'm eager to get back on the trail.

I haven't done any hiking since I was about 18 years old and I am terribly out of shape. I plan to use the Amicalola Falls area as my training grounds to help get back in shape before going on any overnight jaunts on the trail. I am also short on gear and will most likely be making my own gear. I'm a minimalist by nature so my gear will probably match.

In the meantime, I will be lurking around somewhere in the forums.

Welcome to WB. Lots of good DIY advice on this website. If you are interested hammockforums.net is getting a lot of good hammock information together. Below is a link to a website with a lot of good directions.

Welcome,
The stairs leading up to the top of Amicolola Falls shoule dhip you into shape.

I just finished sewing a Ray-way tarp, I'm excited I get to try it out this weekend on a Boy Scout camp out. I also mad a backpack for my son, and a quilt for each of us. I reccommend his kits, if you know how to sew, or have someone who will patiently teach you. I never sewed anything. My wife was able to teach me.
