Since nobody responded to my question about whether there are any folks still heading north to the Big K.

What's the snow and/or ice level on it right now?

There is snow on White Cap, has been now for about 2 weeks, that's at 3800', I'm at 700' and we are getting intermitten snow squalls a couple of times a week. :)

There's been 2 or 3 snowfalls on Katahdin in the last few weeks and now looks like a pretty good cover from the tree line up. I don't know for sure if the mountain was closed to hikers yet or not. I think it would have been possible to summit on some days in the last few weeks but might not be from here on. If I go up to the park this week I'll see if I can find out who was last in the register at Katahdin Stream.

The last to camp at Baxter were Mr Miyagi and Blue on 10/14. On 10/16 there were still about 20 in the Wilderness and a few in Monson.

I met a nice hiker named Kevin (no trail name) near Kent, CT on 10/14. He was a nobo thru, but not climbing the big K, as he had done so when he last thru-hiked.

There were a lot of people who flipped late, but they flipped before the Whites. They're going to have some heavy weather in NH.

Going through NH late is arguably worse that day-tripping Katahdin after the 15th

Doc Narly flipped and is in Mass with only 70 miles to go.
