I did the math, as best I could figure the right hand collumn is over 960 Lbs.

There is mention of "pack saddles, complete horses" I assume the bulk of the load was carried by pack horses, still: Damn!

There is also mention of 2 TWELVE POUND blankets (24 Lbs by my count)

Just a guess, but Col. Left is "Personal items" & Col. Right is "Group" items.

Still, 24 Lbs of blankets AND a sleeping bag? Poor horses.

MMMMM, Maybe my 30 Lb pack wt IS Ultralight afterall.

And I didn't see a single roll of TP on this list. I figured they would take at least six rolls.

I was just up there this past August... here is a pic on Webshots that I took at the Visitor's Center in Skagway.

The spread of gear was in a display probably 6'x10'... I give those guys some serious credit for what they went through...

Good pic, thanks!

This list, if memory serves, was REQUIRED to enter the wilderness. That is the MINIMUM amount of gear they HAD to have or the mounties would not let you pass.

I just uploaded the picture to the gallery section, check 'Other Trails' or do a search on Chilkoot Trail.
