I received these pictures from Box O' Fun (05).
It makes the AT seem a little tamer. :)

i doubt I'd walk so close, just in case-string out some:D .

On a side thought, it takes 'trail maintenance' to quite a different level

At least they get chains to hold onto!

They must not have any lawyers over there. Otherwise, the insurance rates would be so high as to close it down.

Hey, anyone heard of Via Feratta in WV? That place is worse!!! I kid you not. Try crossing a swaying bridge 300 feet uo in the air in sleet with each board about a foot apart from each other. It is scary.

(Just to clarify, Via Feratta is a climbing place, and it is latin for Iron Way.)

I would hate to try to dig some sidehill there.

I wasn't sure where to find all the pictures, but I did a little surfing and found the rest.

If I tried this, "Yellow Blazing" would mean a whole different thing.

Very much reminds me of Angel's Landing in Zion NP, Utah. It's very similar to the path depicted here. As a bonus you get to climb about 30 switchbacks. It's a spectacular hike, though. Zion is a beautiful park.

:cool:That's no trail, it's the primary road up to Tibet.

Now, if we could just cut a road up there for the Cades Cove tourist types. Why make the car drivers walk, nay, dangle!!?? When someone with god-given american initiative could blast a road thru there? It'd be good for business.
