But if its "nanoholes" are big enough to let sweat droplets through, won't they also let rain droplets through?

It would be cool if it worked, though.

Same principle as breathable rainwear - vapor molecules are smaller than liquid molecules. Or groups of molecules stuck together, I guess...since technically the molecule is the same size regardless of state. Any techies on here who can describe that better?

So.... if this works, here's an idea for people who love to hike in sandals and hate heavy, wet footwear.

Make knee-high "socks" of this breathable rubber. When you're going to be hiking in snow, or even fording streams on a cold day, put on a pair of warm wicking socks next to your skin, then put the rubber socks over that, then put your sandals on. The advantage is that the rubber will not absorb moisture and grow heavy, and at the end of the day you can take them off and wipe them dry. The sandals should dry overnight, and if not all the sweat evaporates from the wicking socks, you can alternate pairs.
