i`m sure this has been talked about, but i didn`t find it searching, so mabey someone can point me to some past threads, or mabey it`l be worth a new thread.
you know there are a few things you like to be able to reach while your hiking w/o taking your pack off, or get to easyly while moving around camp.
of course this is going to vary a lot from person to person.
i also like the idea of keeping some things (some concidered the 10 essentials) in a conveniate place so they stay w/ me most of the time, but out of the way.
some of this stuff i carry in my pockets, but if i wear pants w/ no cargo pockets, too much stuff in the two front pockets starts to be a hassle to deal w/ every time you reach in. especialy if anything has a layard on it.
but i really don`t like wearing much around my neck.
i have started wearing a photon freedom around my neck & hardly know it`s there.
also rain pants can pose a challange to getting into your pockets.
of course, some of this stuff isn`t needed when hiking, but in camp. it would be nice to come up w/ a system that keeps these things in the same place while hiking and in camp. the same system could keep things orginized when you bed down.
some of the things i like to have avalible are;
trail snacks & water (baggie for trash)
map & compass, whistle
knife, chapstick, lighter
mini LED light
tiny bottle of soap and/or sanitizer
a couple advil
camera (gorila pod?)
possibly note paper & pen
when i get one, a GPS
i know the 1st thing some will say... keep it simple... but i find it helpful to have some things easy to get to & i know some have worked this out.
