Those Pics are COOL.

Also, check out the South side of the road at Hog Pen Gap (GA) after a hard freeze. It is an ice climber hangout.

Thanks everyone. Glo-Worm, I had to research my notes, but I believe I saw you at Watauga Dam Rd with about 10 others that day. Hope your hike went well.

There are several easily accessible (by road and a short walk) falls that will freeze up on or near the AT, from Delaware Water Gap northward. I didn't realize that it would get cold enough, long enough, for falls to freeze in Tennessee. I think that it's a lot of fun to walk the AT in light snow on a sunny day with temperatures in the 20's (and not so much fun to slog through hip-deep snow in a light rain at 30 degrees, but it was only a day hike).

the same thing happens to looking glass falls in pisgah every so often, which is an even bigger waterfall with more drop-off. its an amazing thing to see.

Woo-hoo. We had mid-thirties here in MA. Heat wave. Took a walk around the neighborhood, the first time in a couple of weeks.

Gosh, I'm from Maine. Do you mean to tell me some falls actually are made of water. I've only seen ice falls. It must be nice to live in a tropical place kike New York or Virginia where the falls are actually made of water. Once for a few weeks in August we did actually did have a short melt in our southern Maine rivers. ( great pictures Squid)

When moving water freezes, that qualifies as chilly!
