MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!

I wish I knew how to do all of the fun graphics and color fonts so I could make a little mini card that could tell all of you how I feel about you at this time of the year.

2006 has been a real roller coaster of a year. The best of "great" and the worst of the "bad". But all along, as usual, the Appalachian Trail community has been there for me in so many ways. Thank you! I wish you all a very blessed and happy Holiday.

I wish all of you the best for the new year. 2007 will be a very different year for me and my family. I am looking forward to the class of 2007 and seeing everyone. Miss Janet's House will be closed until February 16th... which just happens to be my 40 somethingish Birthday. I think I will throw myself a little Bday party... stay tuned!!!!

Before Santa took off tonight we talked for awhile and he let me try on his BackSac for a walk around the yard. Man, was it heavy!! I asked him what kind of stuff he was carrying and he mumbled some words I couldn't make out, "Xpods" or something. I told him we backpackers don't need NO MO STUFF but he laughed and said he'd swing around later with gear I WILL CARRY on my next trip. Something about a polished brick to set my boots on at night(with the holes, of course)and the cumbersome two volume set of Rodale's HIKING THE APPALCHIAN TRAIL.

Does Big Nick think I'm gonna actually carry what he gives me? I've about about 6 hours to give it some serious thought. He WILL be back.

I wish you the best Miss Janet and all my many trail friends. I didn't make ALDA this year because it fell in the middle of my campain for the Maine State Legislature. I lost so I now have my life back. Missed a whole season of hiking while kissing babies and shaking hands. God, I missed all of you and may 2007 be a better year. By the way, it will not be a white Christmas in Maine, it was 47 degrees today. Damn global warming. We are a combined Christian/Jewish family so when my Daughter in Law lit the Hanaka Candles this year my two year old granddaughter broke out in a loud "Happy Birthday". Anyway, happy birthday Jesus and a wonderful holliday to old friend Miss Janet.

Be careful and dont burn down the house with all the candles that will be on that birthday cake ! As I recall we are about the same age ;-) It's a shame we live so close but see each other so little. 70.6 miles. beautiful section. Highly reccomend it. Just do it.:)
