That looks more like Rime Ice to me. Cool just the same though. Thanks for sharing!

PS: Rime ice forms at a right angle to the ground, and affixes itself to trees and things subject to the prevailing winds. Notice that the eastern side of the ridge has very little white. Hence, my thought that it is not so much snow.

A buddy of mine said that Roan Mt got 4 to 5 inches yesterday. Mitchell is not too far from there. I'll check on LeConte's weather summary and give a report.

Darn it... It looks like I'll need to travel SOUTH just to get out and play in the snow.... RATS... This 'winter' is making me made... Although the next time I have to shovel the drive and path I will be cursing it again for just the opposite reason...

Here in the Hudson Valley we have had almost no snow... what little, and I mean little is long gone....

We got 2 inches of snow yesterday here at the Len Foote Hike Inn just south of Springer.
