I just joined a new FREE service the other day. It's called PaperbackSwap. here's how it works.

Sign up at http://www.paperbackswap.com/
List 10 paperbacks that you're willing to mail to other folks
You'll initially receive 3 credits to order 3 books
As people order your books - each book received from you gives you another credit to order a book for yourself

You could start now and get yourself a pile of paperbacks for an upcoming thru-hike or section hike, or to carry you through the winter into the spring. All you pay is postage (media mail rate). It's a really good deal. Kinda like a book recycling service. I've even ordered a few books for family members.

That's pretty interesting! My son sets his old books free via:

I think I'll have to try Swap site, I like getting something in return!

One of the reasons my pack weighs so much as I gotta have several good books to read when I'm out. Problem is, I burn them page by page to lighten the pack. Sometimes I feel bad about it as I've burned some danged good books over the years. I would like to get more books thru paperbackswap but at this point I have nothing left to trade. In fact, I just got a good used book called TOUR OF DUTY about John Kerry that is ready for my January trip and the cover and index has already been removed in preparation.

If I never went out backpacking I really think I could use this service.
