This is an out of curiosity question.

Might anyone know what is the longest through hike of the AT? In otherwards the most days hiked to go from one terminus to the other in a single calendar year? Who holds this distinction? For purposes of this post, I am interested in those who went from one terminus to the other without flipflopping.

The Michigan Roadwalkers took their sweet time going SOBO too.

They got their name by walking the roads from Bangor to Baxter to start their hike. No hitching or rides.

Didn't Beavis take exactly one year or a year and a day? When I met him Kathy was still looking fine!

Funny how some put the *one year* stipulation in order to be a thru-hike! Who makes up such stupid rules? :p

It took me and Gypsy 9 months to do 1600 miles. That's gotta count for something.

I seem to remember you getting stuck on a bar stool in Port Clinton that year. :)

Nope. That was 03 and I blame Woody and Bag O' Tricks for getting us stuck. We were just hiking PA that year. 2000 was the year of the long hike.

might be nice to go five each day and camp and do trail work. but the work would have to all be small quick stuff.i can see trashin the whole trail pickin up each peice on a thru. it might take two years.trail would be slightly cleaner for a second.
