Well, if you're looking for anyone, you're sure apt to find someone! Be careful about what you desire, some people who are not careful have the misfortune of getting exactly what they desire.

If you're leaving in April you'll have your pick of the litter, so to speak. Don't worry about a partner... it really doesn't work that way. Just go.

Don't worry about starting out with a partner. If you start from Amicalola on a Saturday you'll run into a lot of other potential thru-hikers. Over time you'll hook up with someone compatible with you (socially and speed-wise).

I started a thru-hike on April 15 2003 there were two people at Amicalola ready to start a thru-hike. One of them was me. There were not a lot of people. Always plan for the unexpected.

I would not be too concerned about finding someone to start with. You will find plenty of people out on the AT and sooner or later you will find a suitable match.
I also couldn't find someone on Springer, April 12, to take my picture. By no means there is a crowd that time of year.
Happy trails.
