Has anyone gotten ahold of one of these yet? They were demo-ing the "Revolution" tent at Trail days 06. Looks like it finally hit the market. From what I saw these things are UBER lightweight, sturdy and well designed.

Whiteblaze "search" function seems to suck -- but this brand has been discussed in detail in other threads, in the not-too-distant past. Delivery seems to be an ongoing issue. Many negative reports, on this forum and others.

You may want to hold off purchasing a tent from Big Sky. There have been many complaints about checks getting cashed and not getting a tent.

Happened to a good buddy of mine here in town, too.

Too bad, they are good tents. But, well, how good is a tent if you don't receive one? :)

You may want to follow Mags advice. There are many similar complaints also at BPL.com. And it is too bad, because from what I've read they are good, light tents. I don't mean to talk bad about anyone or company, but the complaints speak for themselves.

I don't think there's even a large enough sample size out there to warrant the rave reviews the Evolution has gotten. If the service is that spotty, I'd be worried about workmanship/warranty/repairs, too. Just an opinion.

Thanks everyone. I'll take this advice to heart. Still...the Revolution sample he had at Trail Days was a sweet sweet tent.

From what I've seen -- looking at lightweight solo backpacking tents -- the Big Agnes SL line are nearly as light. I've seen the B.A. SL1 close-up and personal, and it's very nice.

The sample at trail days was sweet and the Evolution will no doubt sell if the owners ever get their act together enough to produce it. Have a great idea and making a few prototypes isn't all that required to begin a cottage industry. You also have to have a reliable source of materials, reliable production workers and reliable people to take orders and ship them.

Henry Shires sure knows how it's done. ;)As do Ron (Fallingwater) Moak (Six Moon Design), Jack (Smee) Myers & Jack (Peter Pan) Tier (Jacks R Better), Glen and grant of Gossamer Gear and George (Tin Man) Andrews (Antigravity Gear). We are blessed to have so many incredible people making high quality gear and giving fantastic customer service.

I'll certainly vouch for the TinMan. Does anyone know if he's going to be at PARuck?

Well stated Renee. I have just received the Down To Earth system from the two Jacks (including the mat from Gossamer Gear, let's not forget Glen and Grant), it was made and sent within a few days of my order confirmation. BTW it looks the part, will post some comments soon.

Glen & Grant have been added. They certainly fall into the category of quality manufacturers with excellent customer service.

As for the avatar, a girl has to have a hobby. My new one is biting the toes of those who nip me.

7.5 months is just too long. I ordered the pole clip version of the Evolution 2D2V back in early September 2006. Repeated emails every month or so since January and have been promised repeatedly that I'll have it soon. Still no tent. I would hold off until they get their backlog taken care of.
