View Full Version : Did Scott Williamson complete 2006 PCT yo-yo?

I read that Scott Williamson was attempting another PCT yoyo last year, and then saw a pic of him hiking it on the ULA website about a week ago. Just wondering if he actually completed it or not. On this site it says he was nearing completion: http://multidays.com/2006/11/08/scott-williamson-on-the-pacific-crest-trail/ . The other thing that interested me on the site was that it said that there is a documentary in the works about him, and some other hikers. Anyone heard about this?
Yup, completed his 2nd PCT yo-yo... there where a few news paper reports. Try google.

He didn't make it all the way in 1996. He stopped in the Sierra, CA due to snow. He tried to do it the following year in 1997 but quit after hitting the Canada border.

the site says he has completed the pct 8 times already. Not sure if that includes at least twice he completed it in sections as he never used to count those. Wonder who the other hikers are?

Actually it wasn't the snow but a girl he met at VVR. Maybe I got my years mixed up but I think it was 96.

2 yo-yo's is 4 times, a few attempted yo-yo's adds others and I think he hiked the trail without trying to yo-yo.

yep, 2+2=4
He did the trail several times more either not attempting or attempting the yo-yo but has completed the trail at least twice in sections and never counted them as completing the trail as he only (at least used to and I imagine still does) counts end to ends.

I'm watching CBS Sunday Morning and they are doing a story about hiking/walking and the lead-in was his yo-yo.
