I need to set up some type of an interactive website as soon as possible. I need to be able to have an ongoing private discussion with several people... where I post something and people can post back... like a Whiteblaze forum but private and seperate from WB. Someone suggested a Blog page but I know nothing about this.

Can anyone tell me where a good site for Blogging can be found? I would like to look at some good ones to see if this will work for what I need.

Thanks

I use WordPress on my site for a blog and it can be used as a site or anything you want, of course having a webhost and some pages on a site that are password protected is good too, but blog is great can allow users to post comments, and can make it private. There are many others just do a search for them. Let me know if ya need any more info on this. ( I work for one of largest webhosts in the world ;) )

Miss J this might be the solution. You just need a host that can support the sql data base. If you find one and would like some help in getting it up and running let me know. It can be set up so only someone with a password can access the forums and the software is free.

http://www.blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com/) has everything you need. Its free. You can also put in a stat counter from www.statcounter.com to track who visits.

I can hook you up with the worlds best and most affordable host if you decide to go that route. A forum would be the best thing for what you want to do but blogger would work. I use SMF forum and it does use a mysql database so you could control who could register and post on your forums and of course I would be willing to help ;)

Hey Miss Janet,

Gardenville directed me to your post.

I run a web site called postholer.com. It's a hiker specific web site catering to, well, hikers. It has forums, journals and lots of snow information. It's a relatively new site.

I'd gladly set up a private forum and you could designate the participants with you as moderator.

Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested.

Google has something called "google group" that might do the trick.

Forget blogging. Just set up an invitation-only Yahoo Group. Pretty easy to do.

I used this at one time. It was great for making forum users approval from me first. But after so many days of no posts they delete free forum.

The software is free, but the hosting is not, so nothing would be deleted no matter how much use it got if any. (speaking of the forums I use on sites I design)

Miss Janet, do check out what postholer has to offer, that might be just the ticket for you. I've been very happy with them and have my trail journal there as well.
