Day Hikes around Davenport

Im finishing up my section earlier than I thought and will have a full day and a half to burn before catching my bus. Are there any sights around Davenport Gap besides Mt Cammerer? i will be seeing it on my section. It could be on the AT or not. The plan is that we will finish up and stay at Davenport Gap on Thursday March 15. My bus leaves early am Saturday. Im looking at something to do as a day hike on Friday, will spend night at Standing Bear. I have looked at my maps, just want an insiders view on some "secret" jems around this area that can be accessed on a day. thanks

Mt. Sterling. You can hike up from Big Creek (6 steep miles if I remember correctly) or you can drive up to Mt Sterling Gap and it's only 2 miles. Great view. Or.....hike on up to the top of Snowbird and back from Standing Bear for some great views of the Smokies. The locals can tell you how to drive to the top. You can drive to the top of Max Patch, also.
