Brian Frankle from ULA has introduced the Amp backpack for 07'. It can be found at www.ula-equipment.com (http://www.ula-equipment.com) I will be interested to hear how durable this pack is. It looks to be a dynema gridstop/silnylon hybrid. At just under 11 oz. for 2600 cu inches, this pack seems to be a great solution for super lightweighters looking for a good weight to space ratio. Anybody take this pack out yet?? Lets hear some reviews!! The removable front pocket looks interesting...

nope.. not a joke.. Apparently, you need some kind of endorsement or standard to sell ice axes, so, as a lightweight alternative, ULA passes this lightweight ice axe off as a potty trowel.. I wouldn't use it on serious mountaineering expeditions, but I'm sure it would work great getting through the Seirra's in a snow pack..

After a quick look at the website, I didn't see any silnylon listed in the Amp's description - just 1.9oz ripstop and Dyneema. If that is the case, this pack should prove to be far more durable than if silnylon were used; depending, of course, on how much you "baby" your gear.

I like my Fanatic Fringe Thompson Peak pack better. More room.

DawnTreader--
I don't see where he says he's using sil-nylon on the pack. I think it's Dyneema Gridstop Nylon---urethane coated I believe with Dyneema at 9% and 210 denier nylon at 91%. See Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics' fabrics page at:

http://www.owfinc.com/Fabrics/NylonWoven/Cordura.asp#Dyneema

Am I missing where it says SilNylon?????

P.s. w/ a name like Fanatic Fringe of course you like Thmp.Peak. HAHA.

No, there's no silnylon. I emailed Brian asking him what the fabric was and he said it was all Dyneema and 1.9 oz Urethane Coated Ripstop Nylon.
