Raising money for Mary Anne

Hello, everyone.
This is Survivor. I am beginning my journey on March 6. I have heard about how some folks have raised money walking the trail for a cause and I would like to know if anyone knows how that works or if anyone knows anyone who did it and can help me .
I am a breast cancer survivor and have just learned about a woman who has been diagnosed and who has no insurance.
Ifthis post is in the wrong place I am sorry. I am not very familiar with how this works.
Any help at all that you can give me would be so very appreciated!!

You can start by reading "A Walk for Sunshine" by Jeff Alt, which is an excellent book about thru-hiking for a cause.

Hope it goes well. I know Bluebird (see her 2006 trail journal on trailjournals.com) was raising money last year for the Childrens Miracle Network. Her thru got cut short by an unfortunate shoulder injury at the Maine border (now that is a bummer). Maybe you could e-mail her.
