Ok, I realize that it is a little big... other than that would this be an acceptable pack for a thru hike on the AT?

It looks to be a Red Cloud. The Red Cloud was my first pack. I saw every one of them blow a seam on the AT and my original got warranteed as well. I would avoid it simply because Kelty cuts too many corners for budget packs. On the other hand, I hiked the whole trail with my high end Kelty (an expired model). Asside from that, its too big and heavy. Kelty also does not beleive in hip belts with different sizes. There is a mens size and a womens size. If it fits you thats great, but if it doesn't... I no longer use my Kelty but make my own now, so I cant recomend anything on the market.

I just noticed you are hiking in 2011. If this is your first pack and need a budget pack that will get replaced, then I would go with the coyote as its smaller but basically the same pack otherwise or the tornado as it it lighter weight and a simpler. If this is the pack that you intend to hike in, then increase your budget a little and you will thank yourself later.
