I tried a cardboard box that 8 oz. of cookies had come in. First, I ate all the cookies. Then I put the quart Ziplock bag in it, added the water, closed the top, put it in the stuff sack that the cookware lives in, and it worked out much better than I'd had any right to expect.

So if you have some food that comes in a box, and you're carrying the box, well, give this a try.

Unless you've gone to the trouble of making a dedicated cozy.

This works better than using a kitchen towel.

I use a brown paper lunch bag that has a small 1/8 inch piece of closed cell foam on the bottom.

Froggy, as you found out alot of the cozys you have seen are really overkill. What you have is sufficient. You ventured you gained, way to go!!!!

Here are two photos. One showing the closed cell foam inside of a standard size lunch bag.

The other one shows the bag closed after inserting the freezer bag with ramen noodles and one cup water. Don't squish the air out of the freezer bag or the lunch bag.

Heat does not travel well through air. Try to keep as much of an air space between freezer bag and bag wall, if it touches no problem,

First photo shows the inside (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/obijiwa/TwiLyte014.jpg)of lunch bag and thinness of closed cell foam, 1/8 inch thin.

Second photo shows bag folded over (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/obijiwa/TwiLyte015.jpg), one fold is enough.

Some Girl Scout cookies arrived yesterday packed in "cozy" boxes :banana
