For those who enjoy taking pictures and want to be in a few of them, consider the Gorillapod tripod. Its great and only 5.8 ozs.

The smallest Gorillapod weighs maybe 1.5 ounces. It's only good for the smallest cameras, but most hikers aren't carrying anything much bigger.

Wow! What a great idea! Now I can be in some of the pics I take this summer during my GA section hike!

Note that it will HOLD up to 9.7 ounces, but only weighs 1.6.

Ah, now I get it! :o I got one of these but I can see how the Gorillapod may be more versatile.

I got the 1.5 oz. one on eBay for a steal and LOVE it! It's perfect for my Casio Exlim camera and grips to almost anything. Now I can finally take great group photos or pictures of myself on solo trips without having to precariously balance my camera on a rock or tree limb. This is one of the best ideas I've seen come out in a long time.
