Hey Guys,

I randomly came across this song a few weeks ago, and thought some of you might enjoy it as much as I do.

It's "40 Miles from Denver" by the Yonder Mountain String Band. The version I'm linking to is from a live concert recorded on 3/24/2002. It's song #12 and it can be freely downloaded from Archive.org here: http://www.archive.org/details/ymsb2002-03-24

The song references "an Appalachian Trail" although I don't think the song is about "the AT". Regardless, it reminds me of the AT and its a great song.

Note: everthing on archive.org is free and legal, so there's no copyright infringement issues. You can download thousands of live albums. I think this song is available on their ablum "Elevation". Also, the song is misnamed as "A Northern Song" if you try to listen to it in the flash viewer.

Good Morning, Mr Parkay. You're either up early or up late. I'm trying with my limited skills to download the song. You may or may not have noticed when you came by my camp last year I had a guitar and flute ready to jam. The only reason I didn't play any music was because it was too darn cold. How was your recent hike? Later, JJ

You can either stream it "live" or download it to your computer to be listened to whenever you want. Click one of the blue links on the left. If you download it make sure to keep in your music folder, usually under documents as it could default into an odd folder, which would make it harder to find later.

Thanks Sly, that was rather easy. Good music.

I just listened to the whole 2 discs worth of streaming audio... that's not bad stuff. Nice music to work by.

Like some of the more well known "new grass"/jam bands, (e.g. String Cheese Incident), this group is based out of Ned(erland), CO. Just up the road from me and a cool little town. If you've read any of my trip reports, I tend to make a stop in the town after skiing.

YMSB has also played where I tend to go for m happy hour pints in Boulder (The Mountain/Souther Sun pubs have live bluegrass).

Yep..another chance to say "I LIVE IN A FREAKIN' COOL PLACE!" :D

Hey Grey Blazer, yeah I was up until about 4 or 5 AM last night (AKA this morning). My sleeping pattern is all messed up. I think I remember that you had a guitar... definitely too cold though.

YMSB site: http://www.yondermountain.com/ Yeah, you live in a freakin' cool place (unless you live by that chicken factory). Someone actually got shot in a gunfight when my friend took me to Nederland.

Ned is also the home of Frozen Dead Guy Days (http://www.nederlandchamber.org/FrozenDeadGuyDays/). Yes, they do indeed do cofffin races. Iti s coming up in two weeks. Hmmmm...maybe I'll go!

You can see the whole story on the DVD Grandpa's Still in the Tuff Shed. (http://www.nederlandchamber.org/FrozenDeadGuyDays/GrandpaVideo.htm)

The care taker of Grandpa is a customer of the ISP I used to work for. Grandpa really is frozen...and is kept in a Tuff Shed.

As I said, Ned is an interesting little town.
