Im looking for a digital watch that has a compass on the strap and maybe a thermometer too but thats not necessary. Ive found dozens of digital compasses but something about them just isnt right, Id rather be able to look and know its right. The digital ones have a chance of failure. I also like to know the temperature. Is there a watch like this?

You need one of these. I don't think you're going to find a watch/altimeter.thermometer with an analog compass. I have both and the electronic works fine (+/- 3*) and has been right on with cross referenced with the other.

I think many would recommend a standalone compass for navigation. They dont weigh much and are one of the most important of the 10 essentials along with a map of where you are going.

I like the sunnto option someone posted for your needs. Its not on your wrist, but is light and will fit anywhere.

I have a highgear aerial wristwatch that has a barometer, altimiter, and thermometer. Probably not my most neccessary piece of gear, but I can gauge approaching weather a little better with it. The thermometer works, and is accurate, but only after its been off your wrist for about 10 minutes. I got it on steepandcheap for ~$40 and I've seen it come up for the same price there two other times in the last couple months. I usually have the watch and a brunton compass on most trips. Sometimes I take a gps as well.

I have 1 that slides onto my watch band......It's been on there 24/7 for years & hasn't broke yet......any Army/Navy, Military surplus store should carry them

Go to Walmart, Target, etc. Look at the replacement bands for watches. I get ones with a compass built into the band.

Question........if you put one of those compasses on your watch band doesn't the metal in the watch throw off the reading???

I wondered about that too - and checked it. No significant effect. Of course you have to remember that with a compass that is less than 1/2 inch in dia you're not going to be making sightings to even the nearest 10 degrees....
