That's some great pics.

I think if I were you I would read up on how mountain loins behave and any precautions you need to take.

Having said that, I would like to see that out my back door.

well, i guess the question that remains is who took the original photos, where, and when?

More than 3 years old, the pictures were taken in the western part of South Dakota, he said, nowhere near Fort Dodge or Webster County.

The pictures, a succession of three to four snapshots, show a mountain lion creeping onto a snow-covered deck and peeking into a home through a glass door. There is also one in which the big cat shows its sharp teeth.

Why fabricate a story that can be debunked so readily?

I dont think the thread needs to be removed, because it shows credibilty (or lack thereof!) of any given member for future reference.

Well it's me.....

Really I don't know what to say. Let me explain....

I came home during lunch today and checked my email. I received an email from a friend here in TX. The email stated, "Check out the pics taken in Mason, TX a couple months ago. I was amazed, so I decided that I would upload the pics on WHITEBLAZE. Lunch hour came at an end and I asked my younger brother to upload the pics on here for me. I came home just a bit ago and my brother (quite the punk nonetheless) told me what he did. I immediately got on here and read the posts. I asked him why he did it? Just a joke to him.

I have been on here for quite a while now. Matter of fact this place was my number one place of enjoyment when I was in Iraq. As for some of the comments and maybe some more of the comments to arise, I could really give a rats ass how anyone feels in regards to my creditbility. Truth be known, I could care even less if anyone believes what I am saying now. I personally know several people on here that can validate my honor and sincerety. Anyhow I apologize to anyone (esp. the real critical ones) who's panties got into a bind over this.

Your story is eerily similar to Ridge's.

I didn't believe Ridge for a minute but, to my surprise, I'm not particularly skeptical of your account. I've been wrong before but there it is.

Well that kind of implies you were there...

You state they were taken at "your camp" in TX... I think DWM showed where they were taken somewhere else.

While I agree that you never stated that you took the pics, all of your posts do imply that you were involved with them. But as has been proven, you were not. Go back to bed, or work, or whatever rock you crawled out from under.

Maxpatch - Referring to your comment. I could care less if you think I hiked or not. I didn't do it for you or anyone else. So take your judgmental comments somewhere else.

More importantly for those anti-everything people here who bitch and complain everyday about Iraq and how our president has screwed us. Im really tired of listening to your claims of infinite wisdom. And you ****ing idiots here who have never left the comfort of their own couch trying to tell me what is going on in Iraq and how messed up it is. Get a clue. Want the truth? Ask someone who has been there, not the one-sided line you googled or got off CNN. Trust me, you don't see and don't want to see the real news stories. IMHO the only reason we will loose in Iraq is we allow the idiots outside the military dictate how the war is fought and when we come home. Maybe some of you genuises can volunteer and allow our force to become stronger, and then maybe enter a Cold War status and own every square inch of Iraq? Whatever it takes to get the job done, unlike Vietnam.

Whatever it takes to get the job done, unlike Vietnam.Brother, don't leave this site. People on here get flamed for anything they say. I respect your service to our country. I don't think the polls actually reflect the average american. I don't see how they can when they only poll a thousand people or something. I live in the People's Republic of Alachua County and even here there's not as much anti-war sentiment as you would think. And why do they call it a war anyway. We went over there and kicked major butt. Our country is too nice and bad people look at our niceness as a sign of weakness. Have a sense of humor. You've got to admit it was pretty funny in a messed up way (the mountain lion thing). You made a gaff and it's your turn to be laughed at. The next time it may be my turn to be laughed at. Good god, I wear jeans on the trail:eek: and I wore my leather jacket at my Thru-hiker feed. Someone saw my flag hat and told me 1st thing they don't agree with my politics before I said anything about anything. There's morons out there. Joke 'em if they can't take a ******. I'll bet you there are more people on your side than you think. Don't leave me alone at this site with all the internegators. Here's a confession. I didn't serve in the military when I was young and it was because of the peace movement and Viet Nam. Biggest mistake of my life. I used to be a wannabee hippie (liberal, whatever) and I can tell you they don't give a flip about the military no matter what they say. It's like what I say (Sorry Neo)..... It's Hillary Clinton's mission to be the 1st female president of the USA. I support Hillary 100%, I just don't support her mission. Forget about the sheeple who have been brainwashed by the media. I jumped on the bandwagon and had a little fun at your expense (the jackalope comment). Don't leave. This is one of the coolest sites on the web. My$.02.

If it was my brother who abused my account here at WB I think my reaction to people questioning the pic posting would be like this:

"Sorry guys, it was my bro., not me. He's an ahole sometimes. No, they're not mine, yeah they are cool, but again, sorry about that, not my fault, it was my bro. Yep, I agree its ahole to claim credit for other people's pics" ....and so on.

You got seriously defensive giving some credit to the fact that you may have something to hide. Usually people who are honestly in regret do not strike out defensively. I choose to believe you, just know that this is how human nature is. :)

Sorry man, I tried to have a couple chuckles at your expense along the life of this thread. If I were you, I'd shrug it off and ignore 99% of it.

I do want to thank you for your military service. I appreciate all the sacrifices you and others have made and agree that the biggest mistake being made vis a vis Iraq and Afghanistan is allowing the situation to be micromanaged by civilians who've never worn their country's uniform. I am a staunch supporter of our president (and I don't care if I incur the lefties' wrath) and I believe history will be kinder to him than those who take every opportunity to denigrate him presently. While I regret the loss of life and the injuries visited upon our servicemen and women, I believe their cause is just and they are toeing the line that many here have shyed away from. Just what do people think will happen in the middle east should we leave? If there is an alternate solution, why doesn't someone present it?

Thank you for your service and for your posts. Don't leave because of something as trivial as this.

Dude probably didn't hike either. He did in 2005. He and I had a long evening talk at Gooch Mtn Shelter. He was freshly back from Iraq, and we talked about military stuff and civilians and coming home, comparing his Iraq experiences with my Vietnam experiences.

I can still vividly remember that night, with everyone else turned in and he and I just chatting in low voices so as not to disturb the snorers. It was one of my favorite nights on the trail.

The average human eye weighs 7.5 grams.

7.5 grams multiplied by 5 million steps.... :-?
A significant weight savings if you ask me!

Hmmmm... how many pounds total, I wonder?

Come to think of it, we could all do away with a couple of fingers and most of our toes. Hmmmm.:-?

Ok. Well I have got over my temper tantrum. I apologize for initially being defensive, but obviously it was bad timing for me to post my rebuttal for what my bro did. I was pissed and arguing with him at the same time, so my post reflected that. Just abit of history, my bro was in Sadr City (Iraq) the same time I was there. He also, maybe more than I, has had a very difficult time readjusting after coming home. So you might understand why I would I cater to him even under all his hellish ways. We both have our own personal issues we are still dealing with from being over there. No need to explain further on that.

As for being defensive after my post, I got a pretty good laugh out of some of the posts mocking the whole deal. I felt like I took it in stride until the posts by the people who refused to accept anything I said. Surely I would respond defending my part. Then came comments calling me a douche, questioning the legitimacy of my hike, and even to point of whether I was even in the military or not. The latter I don’t and will not take lightly, thus my comments about Iraq and such. I do apologize for the harsh approach but I don’t apologize for the theme of the comment. People say the darndest things out of anger, huh? Maybe the wrong thread, but perfect timing for me to get that off my chest. I really wanted to say that for a while, but never have.

Being able to get on the trail after Iraq was probably the greatest single choice I have ever made in my life. I have no clue what life would be like now if I didn’t have that.

Just a bit of info about my hike just in case anyone cares. I started about a month after coming home. I began my hike with a WB member (Simrose) and met up with several others in Ga. Thoroughly enjoyed the people I met and the conversations. Indeed, Frosty was one of them. He was the only one on the trail I met that year that I could actually reflect. Before getting into NOC I felt the desire to be alone. Much like my combat buddies in the desert felt coming home, except I was outdoors and they kept themselves locked up I their rooms at home. I left my gang. Met up with them later at Trail Days and haven’t seen or spoke to them since. I hiked the rest of the way solo. Didn’t sign anymore registers or stay in any shelters that were occupied. I admit I felt lonely at times, but complete. This is what I needed. Trouble now is, I probably need it again.

Anyhow enough rambling. I do apologize for the harsh remarks and expect no gratitude for my service. But I admit it is nice, and it does make me feel better about myself.

Hey Bloodroot:

As one who took you to task yesterday for your comments made during the “temper tantrum”, I'll own my part for adding fuel to the fire. I must admit I found the comic material in this thread just TOO good to resist, but also thought the ugly name calling from both sides was pretty unnecessary. Anyway, sorry for piling on! Clearly we didn’t get to see you at your best. 24 hrs removed from the situation I for one will give you the benefit of the doubt across the board, for whatever it’s worth. Glad you stuck it out. And to echo others, you deserve nothing less than our unconditional respect, admiration and gratitude for your military service. Hope you (and everyone else) can let go of yesterday, lighten up, and get back to having fun here. Can’t beat this site for pure entertainment value!

Now that we've cleared that up, have you seen my pictures of the mountain lion that visited my house recently?.........:D
