Toothpick's wife here. I heard there was some debate about the actual speed of these two guys. It's all true. They even took about a week and a half off in PA! As the thread says, Toothpick left January 7th and Ghost left about a week earlier. You can check out their milage, pics, map, and Toothpick's (Ben) blog at http://web.mac.com/jesika.martin/iWeb/Ben (http://web.mac.com/jesika.martin/iWeb/Ben/Welcome.html). Enjoy!!

We just hit Hanover today. Had to pick up some snow shoes in VT to get through the greens, and will need them for the whites and possible ME. Hope to be in ME in 10-14 days. Hope everyone has a good time at trail days.

Why? It's not that fast, I started with Tomato, he would have already been done by now.

If someone has a reliable date for the two of them on the summit of Katadin, I would love that information. I am Nighthawk of the "Boyz II Maine," and I was following this two guys step for step from Feb. 13 to April 16. I only made it Boiling Springs, PA and then had to pull off due to illness in the family.

These two were the only people who consistently left entries in the journal the whole way along the trail this season as I passed northward. The two were such an inspiration in their strength and resolve that I would love to possibly see them at Baxter Peak.

Ghost reached the summit on Kathadin at noon today! Trek finished on Wednesday, so that makes them 1st and 2nd thru-hikers for 2007. Toothpick will be finishing in about a week, waiting on his wife to summit with him.

When did Trek start?

So Ghost, having started on Dec. 30, is the last northbound thru-hiker to finish from the Class of 2006.

Who is the first northbounder to finish from the Class of 2007?

Ghost or Trek?

A early to mid-June finish by a northbounder is very rare and definitely admirable.

I met them on the trail at the Iron Master Hostel in the Pine Gove Furnice State park in PA just south of Duncannon on 21 March.

I just hit springer.
