Hi,

Doing my spring section in a couple of weeks, re-supplying in Franklin, NC.

Question: Is Haven's Budget Inn the best place to stay in Franklin? If not, then where?

I've heard some great things about Haven's, just wanted to throw it out.

Also, Three Eagles Outfitters - Okay to ship food to?

Thanks.

Ron Haven is the best in town and you can send shipments to his place. Franklin is a good size town with all the food you will need, walmart, kmart, ingles, and many others. Ron also shuttles from his hotels to any of these places you need to go.

Ron Haven is the best person to put you up while in Frankiln. He will also pick you up at US 64 and shuttle you where ever you need to go. Plus Ron can tell you about the area that you are in.

Cant say enough good things about Ron Haven.

Toccoa, Ga is much closer if the Amtrak station is still open.

Off the top of my head, the closest you could get by to Franklin by Train is Spartanburg SC (which is not that close).

You're probably better off going to somewhere like Charlotte or Asheville, and then figuring things out from there; there are lots of reliable shuttlers in that part of the world. Also, in Western North Carolina, you might have better luck with a bus rather than a Train.

If Greenville SC's Amtrak stop is still available, it's closer then Spartanburg. Clemson SC is on the mainline run, but I'm not sure if the train stops there.

The train does stop in Clemson. Its a nice station, and not in the bad part of town like some stations are located in. (no bad part of clemson). Good places to eat are within walking distance. The local bus stop is nearby. Its free and can get you to Anderson, Sceneca, Pendleton or Central. only problem is your either comming in late at night or early in the morning. Franklin is about 2 hours away. Toccoa is about 15 miles closer than clemson but Im not shure what part of town the station is located. i can see taking you from Clemson to Franklin for 35 bucks.
