Jetboil agrees with REI...

However, clever sleuthing and a keen eye on my part has discovered that it is 3.53oz! Liars!

I know of a funny story that involves the blue bottle and a friend suffering from some chaffing (you know where). The moral of the story is, bring the gold because it can do double duty. ;)
About 3.5 oz empty, about 7 oz full.

3.5 oz is the net weight of the fuel. 7 oz is the total weight of the full canister.

That be right basically!! I weighed them on my digital ounce scale---6.7oz full or (6.7oz full cannister - 3.53 oz fuel = 3.17 oz for empty cannister). If you can truly get the cannister completely empty--which is unlikely--so 3.5oz to 3.7oz is a good real world estimate for a "used" cannister for minimum gear weight between resupply.
