I bought mesh to make a hooded jacket, but just doing sleeves/leggings might be a good idea too, as long as they don't keep falling down. I could just hang mesh off my hat. Insects, not sun, was the thought behind this. Making sun protection for Ed, without overheating him, is one of my unsolved concerns.

I guess that is a nice idea if you want to carry a tee shirt and a long sleeve shirt as it would allow you to ditch the long sleeve shirt for sleeves that hopefully weight less (I didn't see a weight listed).

However, I think I would prefer to just use a RailRiders Eco-Mesh (http://www.railriders.com/product_info.php/cPath/104_111/products_id/835) long sleeve shirt. The entire shirt only weights 5oz (less then some t-shirts) and it vents really well. Many people who hike the PCT use them in the desert sections.

Bicyclists have been using arm and leg warmers for decades. They're made of fabric that is elastic, to hold the warmers in place, warm, hence the name warmer, and wicks moisture just like hiking wear.

^^Yup. DeFeet Armskins Lite are the best. Nice to pack in AZ for some sun protection without carrying a useless long sleeve shirt.

That shirt is on my wish list.

=====================================

Just added to mine as well ...along with a pair of those pants.

Didn't have them for my AT thru but planning on adding them to my PCT clothes bag.

SuperTroll,

Completing a sentence, “rather than carry a long sleeved shirt ...” I carry a short sleeved shirt.
