I want to make a floor for a tarp tent.

What's the lightest-weight material that's durable enough so I can skip carrying a ground cloth?

Thanks!

Tyvek works great. You can get it at home depot, or lowes.

1.1 oz/yd sq. silnylon is common for this. Here's a link to buy (http://www.thru-hiker.com/MaterialDetail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=MG104&subcat=Waterproof+Ripstop)@ thru-hiker.com. They also have 2nds cheaper (http://www.thru-hiker.com/MaterialDetail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=MG103&subcat=Coated+Ripstop).

You can actually just stop by any job site and you'll find a good ol' boy to give you a nice size sheet for free. They use it to block open cut areas for windows or protect outside of structures temporarily from the elements. They usually have tons of scraps for free.
