I spent yesterday hiking parts of the Art Loeb and wanted to let everyone know the Shining Rock Wilderness is a definite must-see for hikers in the Southeast.
The weather was in the upper 60's, with sunshine and a pretty nippy breeze. Hiking during the week greatly reduces the number of fellow hikes you'll come across, as we learned first hand.
A nice hike is starting from FS road 816 and heading into the winderness where the Art Loeb and the MST meet. The 360 degree views are incredible and make for some great photos. There are also plenty of nice grassy spots perfect for a quick afternoon read or a well deserved nap.
I hope everyone has an opportunity to get out this weekend and enjoy the "cold" sping-like weather.:banana
