Is the Class of 2009 a forum yet?....can it be?.....I need to join it.

It is the chance that i will have to go and going I am.

It is a promise i made. A dream I will keep. Solitude without lonliness.

IS there a gal out there who would like to join me?

I think 2009 is it for me too! I've been thinking about it nonstop and I don't think I can put it off past 2009. Any females out there need a hiking partner in two years?

I'm planning on either 2009 or 2010 for my AT thru-hike. April 2008 or even this autumn if I get the chance I plan to pop over and do a 1 or 2 week hike as well. By then I should have my basic gear.

I've been dreaming about doing the AT for the last year and if I don't set a year I will never get round to it. This way gives me hopefully enough time to get finances and work options sorted out.

I am also hoping to attempt a 2009 thru hike. I am working now on helping all the different pieces to fall into place. Unfortunately there are a lot of pieces

I am looking at 08 but realistically, it will probably be 09. I have not made the decision to do it but am going to decided after my August section.

I'm also striving to thru-hike the AT in 2008. Reality is that it may not be until 2009.

My twelve year old son wants to go. Anyone else thinking of bringing along children.

I was originally planning a 2010 thru hike on the AT. I am now planning to try and do it in 2009.

To answer the question in the first post of this thread. No there is no 2009 forum yet. A 2009 forum will not be created until the end of this year. We currently only create a forum one year ahead for upcoming thru hikers. If we did it any further then people would want one as far out as 2030, so we had to set a one year limit.

Thought maybe we'd be out there together in 2010 Rick ...

But HEY, if you can make it happen in 2009, why not !!

All the best ...

thanks Attroll, for now this will be my resting place and next year I will move to the new location.

ps. MY Rant.....I hope that the 2009'ers are not as opinionated and don't feel the need to push their personal likes and dislikes on other hikers like what I see alot of, of past thru hiking experts and cyber-hikers who rarely hit the trail. It is far better to know what you don't know rather than preaching what you think you know or have experienced along the way. The Rusty's thread I read today just totally blew my mind...what difference does it make, one way or the other.....reminds me of the lost art of true journalistic reporting....when they started editoralizing the newscasts while seemingly reporting just the news.....well, let's just say blowing one's own horn is an unappealing trait. Everyone is after their "15 minutes" and what they should do instead is to give 30 minutes to all others.
