Anyone ever heard of CiloGear (http://www.cilogear.com/)? I'm tryingto decide what pack to buy. Honestly, I'm thinking of buying a gearskin by MoonBow.

I've hear of this firm on climbing forums, but don't remember if what I hear was good or bad.

Check out rockclimbing.com (http://www.rockclimbing.com), for reviews on quite a few of the cilo gear packs. It would be under the gear heading, there are quite a few decent reviews on this site.

Two of my buddies have them. They LOVE Cilogear.

And just to explain-these are the two most extreem/hardcore men I have ever met. They are more like machines then humans when they get on the trail or on rock-just churn out the miles. One's a lawyer-loves to research...the other is a structural engineer-always thinking about how to improve products.

Anyway, both of them researched packs for months and independantly decided upon Cilogear-the largest one. They use them for distance hiking and alpine routes in Colorado and Utah. Both of them sware by the packs, and are trying to convert the rest of us. When I need to pick up new gear these are the guys I talk with because they love it all so much and are so well informed.

So I don't have any first hand experiance with the brand...but I am planning on picking one up next year once my current pack dies (on it's last legs). I doubt you'll be disapointed

If there are any questions that you would like to ask, please feel free to ask me, either here or via my email account.

Some of the online reviews are of the first generation packs, some are of the second generation packs that we are currently selling.

scroll down a bit and you will see a review from some guy (chris) who bought one of the first V2 packs I sold.

I don't know of many other reviews of the V2 packs, in fact, I don't think there really are any yet. Rock and Ice magazine, Climbing Magazine and ClubTread.ca are all currently testing this year's packs. While there aren't many reviews of the current packs up right now, there are several forum threads talking about them though, but not all in great detail. I'll provide the link to one, but please remember that the first part of the thread is actually a review of the old V1 model.

The first generation packs were positively reviewed by Alpinist Magazine's online review series, as well as featured in articles in Climbing. Washington Trail Alliance also did a review of the first generation of packs. WTA's reviewers gave me some extensive feedback from the perspective of a big gal, and I took it to heart in the V2 packs which I believe she is now happy with -- she said the old shoulder straps tried to remove a valuable part of her body, but with far pithier language. So I made the new shoulder straps to address that concern.

Backpackinglight.com had a bit of a negative review, but I feel that they really dropped the ball. The reviewer never saw the manual that I supplied with his pack and never looked for the manual. Additionally, they published the review of the first generation pack after I had been shipping the new packs for about a month and a half. But these packs are clearly not for everybody, and critiques, constructive or otherwise, can only help me identify what's wrong and what's right with my company and my products.

Forgive the long nature of the post. I intended to provide better links to the reviews on rockclimbing.com and then got carried away.

Welcome to the group. It is good to see an owner of a company getting this involved with answering questions on there products.

No problem. Cool, it's nice to see the owner of the company posting here. That's what I like about backpacking: there's amuch closer link between companies and thier customers/prospects.
