I realized today, while I was posting a new drought map on the Virginia DEQ Waters Resources Management site (I am Hydrogeologist), that many people probably don't know there are maps that tell about drought conditions. And many people don't know where to find them. So I decided that I would post a link to the US Drought Monitoring Map provided by UNL.
Here it is (http://drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html)

thanks for posting! I especially like the animated maps. Intersting how drought spreads.

Drought. Used that word in the West in a previous life. "good moisture."

I watch usgs products to try and get a handle on water levels and mud here.

Hydrologists are good people. Drainage is cool.

I can't believe I am stuck inside today. What a rip!

It is also interesting to see it retreat with one big storm. Notice after the 10 April image it becomes smaller. Through out the weekend from 13 April to 15 April it was raining a lot, mostly on the 15th, so the drought area receded.
